My Story

Welcome to my world! I’m Sally, Irish-born, London made, and here to share my words, my quirks, and maybe even a few laughs along the way.

I grew up in Ireland, where hills are green and the weather is moody. Stories were our way of life. My family could only be described as storytellers. They could turn a trip to the shop into an epic adventure. So, it’s safe to say I caught the storytelling bug early. But life had bigger plans for me. Before I turned 9, we hopped the Irish Sea and settled in Bristol. After a slightly sheltered childhood with a few memorable moments sprinkled here and there, I eventually took the plunge and moved to London with two of my best friends. Fresh out of Bristol Uni, I dived headfirst into the bustling world of copy editing. It was a steep learning curve, fuelled by late nights, strong coffee, and more than a few existential crises. But London shaped me, challenged me, and eventually, it felt somewhat like home.

Fast forward to now—at 46, I’m an author, editor, and an unapologetic fan of the simple pleasures in life. Most days, you’ll find me doing what I call the holy trinity: writing, walking, or, let’s be honest, snoozing. I’m convinced the best ideas come when I’m out on a quiet walk or dozing with a notebook within reach.

And when I’m not working, I’m usually outside, preferably on holiday, but if not, soaking up any bit of sun London decides to grant us. I’m partial to a plate of grilled prawns and spicy tomato pasta. I’m quite easy to please, I’m happy with good food and a good friend to chat with. I’m also a bit of a homebody—I’ll happily spend an entire afternoon curled up in a darkened room with a good book or a binge-worthy series. Give me a bit of mystery, some intrigue, and I’m all in.

I’m also not shy about my pet peeves: shady characters, wild kids running amok, rooms that feel like saunas, and long flights (I don’t get to fly first class yet!) But what I do love is a good story, interesting people, and maybe a bit of cheeky banter. So if you’re into that, stick around. I think we’ll get along just fine.

Here’s to whatever story we’re about to write together!
